Masterclass on Business development by Jeff Skinner & Sean Fielding
This intensive one-day master class is designed for all those within universities whose job involves building links with businesses. This includes licensing managers (whose goal is to find and negotiate with licensees) as well as those who are trying to identify potential research collaborators, sponsored studentships or stimulate any other kind of relationship with businesses.
Thursday 25th of March
Masterclass on Collaboration agreements by Mark Anderson
Whatever the legal form of the collaboration, certain issues will need to be addressed in the contract. These issues include: how the parties are to work together and take decisions (including the role of any coordinator), how they are going to be funded, who will own and who can use any background and foreground intellectual property, how any results of the project are to be commercialized, what liabilities and risks are the parties accepting, which law the contract is made under, and so on.
Friday the 26th of March
Masterclass on Negotiation by Robert Marshall
This master class is intended to be helpful to those who already have some experience of licensing or other commercial negotiations, and who seek to develop these skills further. Previous formal training in negotiation is not a pre-requisite, although those who have attended a course which included Robert Marshall's session on "negotiating for success" will recognize some of the techniques presented and will be able to extend and practice these more intensively at the Master class. A complimentary copy of "Getting to Yes" - arguably the definitive book on negotiation - will be provided to each delegate at the end of the Master class.
Registration
It is advisable to sign up for these master classes as soon as possible in order to guarantee your participation!
For those who would like to combine two master classes, special rates are being offered (see our website). Registration can be done in our web shop, which can be found here.
Please visit our website www.astp.net for a complete overview of the programme, logistical information, reduction offers, and registration.
