Teamup! product development day created new business ideas

Entrepreneurship support program Teamup! is founded by Tallinn University of Technology and Tallinn Science Park Tehnopol. The event took place for the second time. The aim of the product development day was to set up teams in one day with different students from various specialties, who will implement smart business ideas.

Teamup! product development day brought together 80 students, who study engineering, marketing, product development, design and materials sciences. Students were formed into teams that brought together needed skills for implementing idea.

In total there were eight teams that began to prepare a business model in accordance with the mentor's cues. Experts, who gave them advice, were from Tehnopol, ESA, TUT and from different Estonian companies.

At the end of the day, teams presented their plans in front of jury. Second place was given to team; whose idea was an innovative mobile phone holder that connects the necessary spare battery and payment card placement opportunity. System that is monitoring health problems in real time was recognized as the best idea. This one was mostly aimed to older people. The system combines the sensor, which measures blood pressure, pulse rate and movement and the software that displays real-time variables. Given the problems associated with aging population, jury decided to recognize this as the best idea.

The winning team will be consulted for the next 9 months, how to turn their idea info business. Team concept will be put into place with help of Creative Estonia and Tehnopol will help to start commercial launch.
