Coffee Morning: Solving Food Waste Problem
- 10:00 - 12:00
- Tehnopol event
Tehnopol Startup Incubator, Mäealuse 2/1
Food waste is one of the clear examples of overproduction. It’s not only the matter of any household but a problematic issue that concerns various sectors from hotel chains and restaurants to almost all office buildings.
This makes it also a problem that can be solved changing everyday habits – both at home and work. At the first Tehnopol Startup Incubator‘s Coffee Morning of 2020, two perspectives are shared on how to become more sustainable and use the existing food resources or leftovers as much as possible:
- Joonatan Oras (Wastefox) – In 2016 Wastefox was founded because of a simple pain – sorting biowaste and taking out trash is often unpleasent and annoying process. Most people who don’t sort biowaste mostly do it because of discomfort, lack of solutions and environmental unconsciousness. Wastefox aims to solve all those three problems. Wastefox is also in the Tehnopol Startup Incubator program.
- Kelly Volkov (Paulig Eesti Kohvimaailm) – Last year, Paulig created a campaign and invited everyone to collect coffee grains that was later used for producing electricity. Tehnopol took part of it as well. Although a temporarily project, the initiative was well received in Estonia as a positive step that came from a global corporation. At the Coffee Morning, Kelly will share the results.
- Peeter Pihel (Fotografiska Tallinn) – one of spokesperson of the zero waste movement in HORECA. Peeter is a passionate sustainable food pioneer in the region. Most recently, he started working at Fotografiska to build an inspiring restaurant focused on an extensive care for the environment.
Join us on 24 January at 10:00 for good coffee, inspiring talks and great company. The event is for free but for registered participants only. Sign up here: https://coffeemorning-foodwaste.eventbrite.com
