Digitalization in industry? …but why?
In the line of mechanization, mass production, computers and automation the industry 4.0 means cyber physical systems - the current trend of automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies.
Altogether industry 4.0 creates a "smart factory" - the modular structured smart factories, cyber-physical systems monitor physical processes, create a virtual copy of the physical world and make decentralized decisions. Via Internet of Things cyber-physical systems communicate and cooperate with each other and with humans.
In theory it is simple – take one big factory, digitalize most of the processes and enjoy the profit. In real life industry 4.0 has several challenges, such as:
