A green promenade will soon be built in Mustam\u00e4e to link two adjacent campuses: Tehnopol and the University of Technology. The authors of the winning project\u00a0\u2018Microgrid\u2019 are Alvin J\u00e4rving, Ott Alver, Mari Rass, Luisa Maria M\u00e4nnilaan, Lill Volmer, Katariina Mustasaar, and Lisett Eist from Arhitekt Must O\u00dc.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The winning project ties different public spaces into a coherent whole with a clear identity \u2013 the buildings and functions surrounding the promenade will be seamlessly connected in the future, providing an opportunity to increase collaboration between the two organisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tiit Land<\/strong>, Rector of TalTech, said that the promenade will bring together people and ideas. He adds: \u2018The university wishes and hopes for more life and movement of people on the campus. University students and students of the future state high school are particularly welcome.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to\u00a0Indrek Orav<\/strong>, CEO of the science and business park Tehnopol, the promenade will allow people working and living nearby to enjoy what the test campus has to offer. \u2018World-changing technologies and innovative solutions are constantly being tested on the Tehnopol district, which will be even more easily accessible in the future to anyone interested thanks to the attractive promenade,\u2019 Orav said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new promenade matches the Nordic modernist architecture of the Mustam\u00e4e university campus, and the connection will also offer solutions for the local micro-production of energy. For example, the winning project for the design of the promenade proposes creating a smart self-sufficient energy grid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A total of six entries were submitted for the competition with a prize fund of 30,000 euros. The assessment criteria of the jury included integrity and suitability for the environment, freshness and modernity, functionality, and the economy of the construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Merilin Jusilo, Joosep P\u00e4rn, Jaan Tiidemann, Jarmo Vaik, and Grete Veskiv\u00e4li (joint team of Ninja Stuudio O\u00dc and Punktiir O\u00dc)<\/strong>\u00a0won the second place with their work \u2018J\u00e4rgmine peatus\u2019 (Next stop).\u00a0Rutt Piir and Teele Aaslaid from Roadplan O\u00dc\u00a0<\/strong>won the third place with their work \u2018Pabert\u00e4nav\u2019 (Paper street).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
