According to neurologist Dr Mark Braschinsky, more than 1.4 billion people suffer from migraines all over the world and only 1-2% end up receiving good-quality treatment. To improve the accessibility of and offer better migraine treatment, our team member Migrevention is currently setting up a digital headache clinic which consists of a mobile app for patients interlinked with a desktop for specialists.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Migrevention digital headache clinic consists of a mobile app for patients where they can keep a headache diary and receive remotely monitored migraine treatment. Migrevention also offers a special control panel for specialists to monitor the treatment of patients as well as assign and change treatment,\u201d says CEO of Migrevention Katrina Laks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The digital clinic is also available for English and Russian speakers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe currently have a prototype of the Migrevention digital headache clinic which has passed a clinical pilot study at Tartu University Hospital,\u201d adds Katrina Laks.<\/p>\n

\u201cMigraine is most common in the age group below 50 years, i.e. the working age population,\u201d Laks highlights. \u201cThis means that it has a significant adverse impact on healthcare and the quality of life of migraine patients. Healthcare resources are limited, waiting lists are long and there are only a handful of specialist migraine centres. As a result, in some European countries, patients have to wait as long as up to 11 months, 5-6 months on average, to see a specialist or get treatment.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBy developing a fully functional and multidisciplinary digital solution, we take some of the load off migraine patients, improve their quality of life and optimise healthcare resources,\u201d says Laks to emphasise the importance of their work.<\/p>\n

Piret Hirve<\/strong>, HealthTech and Connected Health Cluster Manager at science and business park Tehnopol, says she is delighted to see how the cluster project born a year ago has grown into a solution that changes healthcare and benefits patients as well as doctors. Migrevention is also an excellent example of the cluster community helping bring to life a resultative project \u2013 Quretec O\u00dc, another member of the Connected Health cluster, is helping set up the digital headache clinic. Developments related to health are complex and time-consuming. Migrevention, however, has managed to prove that solutions arising from genuine necessity help improve everyone\u2019s health.<\/p>\n

Migrevention O\u00dc and Quretec O\u00dc will be hosting the opening event of the Migrevention digital headache clinic development on Zoom on 16 June 2021 at 15:00 with Enterprise Estonia\u2019s Estonian-Norway partnership Norway Grants \u2018Green ICT\u2019 programme.<\/em><\/p>\n
