The awards were received by the company’s founder and CEO, Jaanus Tamm (pictured). DefSecIntel has been operating at the Tehnopol campus for years. One of the reasons they chose Tehnopol as their location, according to Jaanus Tamm, was that Tehnopol was the only place offering not just office space but also a garage for developing their equipment. Another key factor is the presence of similar companies on campus, fostering the exchange of ideas over lunch.

DefSecIntel was also nominated in the The DeepTech Startup category, while Jaanus Tamm was also a nominee for The Founder of the Year. Additionally, Nanordica Medical, another company based in the Tehnopol campus and part of our health tech community, was nominated in the DeepTech Startup category.

The award for The DeepTech Startup, however, went to GScan, another standout from our campus. Beyond being a Tehnopol client, GScan has actively participated in various programs offered by Tehnopol. In 2023, GScan competed in the Tallinnovation competition, receiving a grant of €30,000. They developed a muon scanner capable of detecting internal geometry and structural damage deep within constructions. This project was piloted in Tallinn, where they measured the cross-section of a balcony railing and exterior structure managed by the Tallinn City Property Department.

That same year, GScan also participated in Tehnopol’s AI Workshop, securing a €75,000 grant to develop a 3D model for reconstructing space based on subatomic particle trajectories. With their deep tech solutions, GScan aims to conquer the global market.

Check out the photos from the Estonian Startup Awards on Facebook!

We congratulate both DefSecIntel and GScan on their achievements!

If your company also wants to grow in an environment where innovation, science, and business meet—competing with top performers like DefSecIntel or ÄIO at our community events, or exchanging ideas with GScan or Cybernetica over lunch—it’s time to join the Tehnopol campus.
