One of the founders, Berit Janson, shared more about FindMyAccountant\u2019s journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How did the idea to create your startup come about?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

FindMyAccountant was founded by sisters and former colleagues at an accounting firm, Berit Janson and Grete Michelson. Grete is an accountant with experience leading accounting teams \u2013 a strategist and a driving force. Berit is focused on sales and partnerships \u2013 a changemaker at heart. The founding team also includes developer Kristjan Eichler and marketing specialist Katrin Primak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGrete and I used to work together at an accounting firm. From the sales side, I noticed that new clients often didn\u2019t know what to ask for and frequently underestimated or overestimated their business volumes. From the accounting side, Grete pointed out that the questions clients ask are always repetitive, and that the initial questionnaire and consultations take up a lot of time \u2013 especially when the client is international,\u201d Berit explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat\u2019s how we came up with the idea of a \u2018smart client\u2019 system, where an entrepreneur fills out a questionnaire, the platform generates a standardized request for proposal, and with just one request, they can receive all the offers in a comparable table. At the same time, accountants get a sales and marketing tool.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What has been your biggest challenge\/failure and your biggest win so far?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe biggest challenge has, of course, been finding resources, time, and funding. I would say we haven\u2019t had any major failures yet \u2013 perhaps we\u2019ve just been moving too slowly. As for wins, there are several, but one of the biggest is that in just six months, more than 100 accounting service providers from across Estonia have joined us. We\u2019ve been warmly welcomed, accountants want to support us, and we receive constant feedback and input from them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What sets your startup apart from competitors?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat sets us apart is that, essentially, we don\u2019t have direct competitors. Sure, there are Facebook groups, the e-Residency Marketplace, Fiverr, and similar platforms, but we haven\u2019t seen a \u2018smart client\u2019 system like ours on the market.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why Tehnopol Startup Incubator?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve all been entrepreneurs before, so we knew what was needed to build product-wise. We came to Tehnopol with the goal of preparing our startup for investment readiness. Today, I\u2019d say the most valuable thing has been access to mentors from different fields \u2013 especially key mentors who help us stay focused on the bigger picture amidst the daily chaos.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where do you see your startup in 1 year? And in 5 years?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn a year, we plan to have solutions ready for at least three markets (including Estonia), used by thousands of entrepreneurs and accountants. In five years, we aim to call ourselves a global company, operating in at least ten markets with tens of thousands of users.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who will be the next Estonian unicorn?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe next unicorn may come from the defence sector, though I can\u2019t name anyone specific right now. At Latitude59, I also noticed MarkeDroid \u2013 why not them?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Which books\/podcasts\/publications or industry figures do you follow and recommend to other early-stage founders?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLife as a startup founder really pushes you toward self-help and motivational books. I really enjoy Mel Robbins\u2019 podcast. I\u2019ve also recently discovered Seth Godin. When it comes to accounting in Estonia, I\u2019d definitely recommend following Krista Teearu.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
