Winners of the 2024 Tallinnovation competition

In the fifth year of the Tallinnovation innovation competition, the winners were cargo wheels, a digital twin solution for visualising solar panels in the city, and a data exchange platform for developing urban infrastructure.

This year, 22 applications were submitted for the innovation competition. Seven companies were selected to make lightning presentations. The jury decided to support the testing of three solutions in the urban space with a total of 55,000 euros.

VokBikes

VOK Bike is an electric “last-mile” cargo bike used to replace cars in areas where driving has become inefficient. As part of the Tallinnovation project, VOK Bikes aims to create a flexible full-service cargo bike rental model for businesses operating in Tallinn. The goal is to prove the readiness of Tallinn’s companies to replace vans with cargo bikes and to map the total market potential.

The company received 25,000 euros in support.

Digital Logistics Center of Excellence

The Digital Logistics Center of Excellence has created a data exchange platform that complies with the European Union’s eFTI requirements and enables flexible data sharing between businesses and government institutions. They are also developing a digital model of the city, showing key trade and freight centers. This will help reduce traffic congestion and increase safety, especially for hazardous goods. The company is being supported with 20,000 euros.

Rexplorer

Rexplorer has created a 3D digital model of solar energy that helps install solar panels on building rooftops and calculate the system’s technical parameters and efficiency. This model is unique due to Rexplorer’s 3D geometry algorithms. The project’s goal is to integrate this model with Tallinn’s digital city model to automatically visualize solar panels on building rooftops and calculate the necessary system data. The company is being supported with 10,000 euros.
