Breath of the wild: the VI batch of Startup Incubator dives headfirst into training

Tehnopol Startup Incubator held a forest retreat last week. The two-day retreat gave participants the chance to get up close and personal with the training and to get to know one another, exchange ideas and gain insights, and nourish the body and mind.

The first day of the forest retreat held a training session on the law given by startup mentors Timo Kullerkupp and Karl-Erik Esko from RASK Attorneys-at-Law. The training session on the law was followed by a relaxing session of yoga led by Tuuli-Sofia.

The sixth cohort of the Startup incubator started with 11 international startup companies from Colombia, Argentina, Canada, India and Estonia. These international teams experienced Estonian culture by walking in the forests, trying the pleasures of the sauna, and attempting an increasingly popular winter sport among Estonians by swimming in a hole cut in a frozen lake.

The second day of the retreat featured a training session on designing services held by Janno Siimar, the founder and design lead of the strategic design agency Velvet.

Difference is enriching and the commitment is astonishing!

The sixth cohort of the Startup Incubator is full of real talent, with teams from around the world and from many different walks of life, with DJs, musicians, artists, broadcasters, TikTokers, blindfolded Rubik’s cube solvers, corporate employees and many others. They are brought together by their commitment to their businesses and their conviction that their startups will conquer the world. Some of them are so committed that the whole team has tattooed themselves with the name of their startup.

During the six months of the growth programme in the incubator, each team gets a lead mentor and attends practical training sessions on everything from law and product development to finance and marketing. They also benefit from a space in the cooperation centre on the Tehnopol campus, numerous community events, valuable contacts, and meetings with investors. The programme aims to highlight the potential for growth of each startup, help make them ready for investors, and open the doors to new markets. These are the new startup stars and potential unicorns, whose high-flying activities are being powered forward by the whole of the Startup Incubator team!
