Estonian health tech and education tech companies share their experience and knowledge with Polish counterparts

Estonian delegation, comprising of experienced health technology and education technology representatives, took part in the Central Europe’s largest business event European Economic Congress in Poland where healthcare and education were among the focus areas. The delegation included Estonian Connected Health Cluster’s members Triumf Health and Cognuse, as well as edtech ecosystem Edtech Estonia.

Poland and Estonia have done well in supporting Ukraine during the war but both countries could benefit from collaborating more, especially in the fields of health tech and education tech. According to the Estonian delegation, the conference was a huge success and follow-up activities are taking place with Polish counterparts where Estonian companies can share their expertise with the Poles and implement their solutions as these are urgently needed.

The founder and CEO of Cognuse, Andres Mellik, participated in the panel discussion on new technologies in the medical sector, sharing the stage with representatives from Medicover Polska, PZU Zdrowie, European HealthTech Innovation Center, Neo Hospital and medical research agencies in Poland. With new challenges and in times of war and conflict, digital empowering solutions must rise to the occasion to meet healthcare needs and standards. According to Mellik, the distinguished panel elaborated on several topics ranging from acceptance of AI and machine learning in addressing current healthcare challenges, looking at adoption of digital health technologies by providers as well burning questions around interoperability and funding issues.

Dr Kadri Haljas, the founder and CEO of Triumf Health, participated in two panels – one discussed Europe’s startup scene and the other was about providing equal opportunities for all. She emphasized the importance of mental health and supporting Ukrainian children in these difficult times.

Haljas said that we need to take care of ourselves first, only then we can be productive and contribute to society in a meaningful manner. This also applies to children who will be our future leaders. “Unfortunately, children all around Europe are struggling to cope, but I am sure we all agree that millions of refugee children need support the most,” added Haljas. “Poland is an important market in Europe in general, but we at Triumf Health consider it as our key market today because there are approximately 3 million Ukrainian refugees in Poland, mainly women and children. The children need mental health support to achieve their developmental potential and we are providing it through an engaging game environment, without barriers (available for free) and in Ukrainian.

Estonian education sector was represented by Märt Aro, the Co-Founder of DreamApply and Chairman of the Board of Nordic EdTech Forum and EdTech Estonia. Aro’s talk “Why education must change” was well received by the audience.
