Film and Multimedia Accelerator Invites Teams to Combine Creativity and Technology
Tehnopol invites teams from the creative industries and early-stage startups to apply for the six-month IDA Hub Film and Multimedia Accelerator. Applications are open until 18 October.
The aim of the Tehnopol Film and Multimedia Accelerator IDA Hub is to help participating teams become market-ready and secure their first investment.
Olga Kurdovskaja, Programme Manager of the Film and Multimedia Accelerator, said that the accelerator’s scope is much broader than its name might initially suggest, and that teams working in the creative and audiovisual sectors are welcome to apply.
“We invite teams with ideas related to media, entertainment, advertising, and audio and video arts, particularly those developing innovative solutions that make these fields more efficient, effective, or accessible. We also welcome teams creating tools for content creators, production and workflow solutions or AI-based products for the film industry,” Kurdovskaja said.
The six-month programme connects early-stage teams with industry experts and practitioners. This intensive, hands-on accelerator offers participants expert mentoring and guidance, a seven-part practical training programme, access to open office space, and the opportunity to develop their product or service with the support of the wider community. Each selected team will also be assigned a dedicated lead mentor for the duration of the programme.
Kurdovskaja noted that this autumn will be particularly special for accelerator participants, as the IDA Hub Film and Multimedia Innovation Centre is set to open its doors in October, giving a significant boost to the local film and production industry.
“With the opening of IDA Hub, Ida-Viru County will gain a unique centre that brings together the largest and most modern studio complex in the Nordic and Baltic region, an incubation programme for training film industry professionals, and a film accelerator designed to drive innovation in the sector. For accelerator teams, this means being closer to the film industry, meeting industry professionals, testing their solutions, and exploring opportunities for pilot projects and collaboration. We also want to build stronger international connections, bring more partners to the region, and create opportunities for Estonian technology companies to introduce their solutions to the global film industry,” Kurdovskaja said.
The most successful startups to complete the Tehnopol Film and Multimedia Accelerator IDA Hub programme will have the opportunity to continue their development in a six-month growth programme. The accelerator welcomes applications from early-stage startups that already have an MVP or prototype, a scalable business idea, a team, and a strong motivation to turn their solution into a high-growth company.
Applications for the Film and Multimedia Accelerator are open until 18 October on the Tehnopol website.
Those interested in the field who do not yet have an idea or a team of their own are invited to take part in the FILM TECH hackathon at IDA Hub from 6–8 November. Over 48 hours, participants will have the opportunity to develop new solutions to challenges in the film and multimedia sector, form teams, and turn their ideas into first testable solutions with the support of mentors.
Tehnopol’s Film and Multimedia Accelerator is part of the innovation centre IDA Hub, founded by IVEK, IVIA and Tehnopol. Opening in October, the centre aims to support the development of film talent and forward-thinking innovators, while helping to boost and diversify the economy of Ida-Viru County.
IDA Hub is a multifunctional centre that, in addition to film studios, will also house a digital and multimedia incubator.
The Film and Multimedia Accelerator is supported by the European Union.
