Startup story: BlooMind X Tehnopol Startup Accelerator

Each year, dozens of high-potential startups develop their product or service in Tehnopol Startup Accelerator and its special accelerator programmes. One of them is BlooMind.

BlooMind is developing a burnout prediction and prevention tool for high-stress fields such as sales, business management, healthcare and IT, as well as for individuals who want to monitor their burnout risk and build greater resilience. The solution helps companies plan HR budgets more effectively, supports new managers with tailored, real-life guidance for leading their first teams, and helps organisations build a more resilient and positive workplace culture.

BlooMind was founded by Tamara Lengi, who has a background in education and more than nine years of experience in youth education, project management, adult training and AI automation. Her interest in emotional intelligence and positive psychology began long before completing her MA in Educational Innovation and Leadership at Tallinn University. She later co-authored the educational innovation project Vaba Aasta Kool, which received funding and an award from the City of Tallinn. Today, as a Positive Psychology Coach and founder of BlooMind, she is focused on tackling the growing problem of burnout and helping professionals succeed without losing themselves in the process. Tamara shared more about BlooMind’s journey.

How did you come up with the idea to create a startup?

“After experiencing burnout myself, I started hearing about similar cases everywhere. I noticed two clear problems. First, we often do not see burnout developing – we mistake the early signs for ‘not being productive enough’ until the nervous system and body eventually give out. Second, annual employee satisfaction surveys are too slow to catch these problems and too company-oriented to truly see the individual behind the data.

Everyone in a company – from individual contributors to managers and HR teams – deserves autonomy over early burnout risk warnings, backed by real data rather than gut feeling. That gives people and organisations the opportunity to act before burnout results in losing a job, losing a trained employee, or spending thousands on replacement hiring.”

What have been the biggest challenges/failures and the biggest wins so far?

“Momentum is building. We are part of the Tehnopol Accelerator, BlooMind has secured EU funding to pilot the solution for teacher burnout prevention, and our Serbian partners are planning to publish a scientific article on it by summer 2027. Interest in piloting BlooMind is also growing, including from the US healthcare market.

Of course, there is no progress without real challenges along the way, but treating them as learning opportunities is helping us move forward.”

What sets BlooMind apart from competitors?

“BlooMind predicts and helps prevent burnout in one system instead of simply collecting data and leaving managers and HR teams to figure out the solution themselves. We identify risk early and provide science-backed, tailored guidance in the same place.

We also help each employee build resilience rather than simply asking them to complete another mandatory survey.”

Why did you apply to the Tehnopol Startup Accelerator?

“As many people have said, having a good idea is not enough – execution matters. From the beginning, I saw Tehnopol as the place where I could get guidance on turning the idea into something real.

Now I see that beyond great mentors, training and events, Tehnopol has also built a supportive and bright startup community where every day offers an opportunity to learn and grow.”

Where do you see your startup in 1 year? And in 5 years?

“In one year, I want us to have completed our first pilot and the empirical research behind it, followed by published scientific evidence. I would also like to see our first paying clients onboarded, with early revenue validating the business model.

My mission is also to raise awareness and reduce the stigma around burnout. We need to understand that burning out does not mean someone is weaker than others – it often means they were strong for too long in an environment that contributed significantly to the problem. That is also why I have started delivering practical, hands-on workshops for companies.

In five years, I would like to see BlooMind, as an Estonian startup, active in the US market, generating revenue and showing a measurable reduction in burnout rates among the people and organisations we serve. I believe that should be the goal of any startup – not just economic growth, but genuinely fulfilling the purpose it was created for.”

Who is the next Estonian unicorn?

“Probably every founder wants to see their own startup as the next unicorn. The world is changing too quickly to confidently predict which company will achieve the next major success.

But I believe the founders who are persistent, agile and stubborn enough to keep solving a real pain point are building the next unicorn right now.”

Which books, podcasts, publications and people in your field do you follow and recommend to other aspiring entrepreneurs?

“I often return to James Clear’s Atomic Habits. It is a good reminder of the value of consistency and small steps, which are crucial when building something without burning yourself out in the process.

Another book that has helped me and that I would recommend is The Gap and the Gain. It is useful for maintaining perspective, optimism and a clear vision through the inevitable ups and downs.”
