Paulin Jürjens to lead Tehnopol’s HealthTech focus area

From 1 October, Paulin Jürjens will lead the HealthTech focus area at Tehnopol Science and Business Park. Jürjens has so far worked at Tehnopol as a HealthTech Development Specialist. The current Head of HealthTech, Helen Staak, will be going on parental leave.

According to Martin Goroško, Head of Business Development at Tehnopol, Jürjens’ previous experience both in healthcare more broadly and at Tehnopol provides a strong foundation for taking on the role.

“Paulin knows both the companies in our HealthTech community and the needs of the healthcare sector very well. In her current role, she has led several complex development projects and brought companies, healthcare institutions and public-sector organisations around the same table. I am therefore very pleased that we can entrust the leadership of the focus area to someone who knows both our community and the opportunities and challenges it faces. Under her energetic leadership, Tehnopol aims to continue being a strong partner for HealthTech companies in product development and piloting, entering international markets and raising capital,” said Goroško.

According to Jürjens, the development of health innovation should focus on solutions whose impact can reach everyday healthcare practice as quickly as possible.

“It is important to me that health innovation supports prevention and early intervention, while making processes smoother for patients, healthcare professionals and HealthTech companies alike. We also need to consider how the changing geopolitical situation affects healthcare and find ways to empower companies, healthcare professionals and hospitals in developing new solutions. I want to strengthen cooperation between the different stakeholders so that the solutions we need can reach everyday healthcare practice more quickly,” said Jürjens.

Before joining Tehnopol, Paulin Jürjens worked as a physiotherapist for nearly ten years and led teams and development projects in the healthcare and rehabilitation sectors. She holds a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Tartu and has further developed her expertise through the e-Health programme at Tallinn University of Technology. Jürjens also has hands-on experience in developing a HealthTech startup.

At Tehnopol, Jürjens has worked as a HealthTech Development Specialist, collaborating closely with companies in the sector and leading both Estonian and international health innovation projects. Among other initiatives, she has led a lung cancer patient pathway development project and supported companies in developing and piloting solutions and expanding to international markets. She has also fostered cooperation between healthcare institutions, companies and the public sector.

Tehnopol is one of the key organisations in Estonia’s HealthTech ecosystem, supporting companies at different stages of growth and bringing together clinical partners, research institutions, the public sector and investors. Tehnopol has contributed to the development of the HealthTech ecosystem for more than 10 years, focusing, among other areas, on testing and validating research-based solutions, bringing them to market and supporting international growth. Tehnopol’s HealthTech community includes 105 Estonian and international organisations. Across Tehnopol’s different focus areas, companies are supported by more than 200 experienced mentors and experts, while every year Tehnopol helps companies expand to more than 15 target markets.
