Tehnopol signs cooperation agreement with the City of Sherbrooke
Tehnopol has signed a cooperation agreement with the City of Sherbrooke in Canada to bring Estonian and Sherbrooke deep tech companies and technology ecosystems closer together. The agreement was signed by Tehnopol CEO Agnes Roos and Stephen Cabana, Assistant Director of the City of Sherbrooke’s Economic Development Department. The signing was witnessed by Estonia’s Minister of Economic Affairs and Industry Erkki Keldo and Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Anita Anand.
The aim of the cooperation is to facilitate knowledge sharing, create new business opportunities and help companies from both countries access new markets. Sherbrooke is an internationally strong player in quantum technologies, while Estonia has valuable experience to share in developing a flexible technology environment, as well as defence, security and dual-use technologies.
According to Tehnopol CEO Agnes Roos, the cooperation agreement creates a good opportunity for both parties to learn from each other’s strengths. “For us, Sherbrooke is a true leader in quantum technologies, and we have a great deal to learn from their experience. At the same time, we are pleased to share Estonia’s and Tehnopol’s knowledge and open up new opportunities for cooperation in defence, security and dual-use technologies,” said Roos.
The cooperation agreement creates a flexible platform through which Estonian and Canadian startups and growth companies can exchange experience, develop joint initiatives and identify new opportunities for international growth. Estonia’s fast-developing technology environment with low barriers to cooperation provides a strong foundation for this.
