Film and Multimedia Accelerator IDA Hub calls for groundbreaking creative ideas

The film and multimedia industry is undergoing rapid transformation – advances in technology, new business models, and shifting audience behaviour are opening up entirely new opportunities. As a result, fresh ideas and innovations have a greater impact on the industry than ever before. The Tehnopol Startup Incubator invites startups and creative technology teams to join the Film and Multimedia Accelerator IDA Hub, which helps to take technology-based ideas for the film and multimedia sector to the next level. Applications are open until 12 October.
The accelerator focuses on the development of multimedia, virtual and augmented reality, storytelling platforms, and other digital solutions that support the film and multimedia industry. Its aim is to help innovative solutions become market-ready more quickly and to move them closer to securing their first investment.
“If we look at where film and multimedia are heading today, it is clear that the opportunities are greater than ever before. Those who take the step forward and put their ideas into practice now have the chance to shape the entire industry’s future. But you can only go so far on your own – within the accelerator you will have experts and entrepreneurs by your side, whose knowledge will help your idea grow into a company with international potential. The accelerator brings international contacts, expertise and collaboration opportunities that open new development paths both for businesses and for Ida-Virumaa as a whole,” said Olga Kurdovskaja, Programme Manager of the Film and Multimedia Accelerator.
The six-month programme provides participants with systematic support: regular consultations with a lead mentor, a seven-module training programme (including a dedicated AI module), media support, access to the startup community, and connections to international networks and investors. This creates a unique opportunity to develop a product or service in a sector where innovation and creativity merge with cutting-edge technology. Startups are welcome to apply if they have a scalable business idea shaping the future of film, a dedicated team (at least two members), and an MVP or prototype.
Several startups have already taken flight through previous accelerator programmes, developing innovative solutions for both the film industry and the wider creative sector. For example:
- SceneHunter helps filmmakers find and manage shooting locations through interactive virtual tours and AI-powered search.
- e-Axiom creates AI-supported interactive cartoons for children, where viewers can influence the storyline themselves.
- Acoustic Power Lab develops solutions for precise sound reproduction in different environments.
- Sisuloom has built a learning platform for developing high-quality content creation skills.
- VisioTag speeds up video tagging and processing by more than half, making the work more efficient and accurate.
A limited number of companies will be admitted to the accelerator, with access to a coworking space and the opportunity to participate in the programme without a monthly fee. Training modules will mainly be held on site to encourage networking and hands-on collaboration, while mentoring will be flexible and can also take place online at times convenient for participants.
The IDA Hub accelerator is also supported by an advisory board of industry experts, including Kaupo Karelson, Head and Producer of the television production company Ruut. “As a member of the advisory board, I’ve seen that the IDA Hub accelerator is capable of supporting film and multimedia startups at the highest level, because here entrepreneurs are guided not only by business experts but also by leading professionals from the specific field,” said Karelson.
The Film and Multimedia Accelerator is part of IDA Hub’s Film and Multimedia Innovation Centre, founded by IVEK, IVIA and Tehnopol. IDA Hub’s mission is to support the growth of film talent and future creators, while helping to revitalise and diversify the economy of Ida-Virumaa. The solutions developed by accelerated companies will bring innovation not only to the region, but to the wider film industry as well.
