Service design for distance-spanning technologies in healthcare: theory and best practices from Estonia and Norway

Remote services, i.e. distance-spanning services, are becoming an essential part of the health and care sector. In the recent years, remote services have shown great potential and proven clinical value for patients around the world. With more developments launching in the field every month, it is also crucial to design the solutions to be user-friendly from the perspective of all end-users.

In this workshop we will introduce case studies of best practices on implementing remote services in the Estonian and Norwegian healthcare systems. In the second half of the workshop, the practical approaches to service design in healthcare will be presented by a design expert.

The presenters will go over the main elements of implementing distance-spanning services:

  • What are the benefits of remote services (for all stakeholders)?
  • What are the barriers in designing remote services and how to overcome these?
  • Which elements are essential for the design of remote services in healthcare?

Schedule (all times in CET):

  • 10:00 – Introduction. Possibilities and barriers for remote healthcare services and co-operation. Piret Hirv (Connected Health cluster)
